Hello everyone!
We have got a New Year's present for you We are adding Ranked Live Challenges as a new mode for Ranked.
Play against 1 to 9 opponents simultaneously.
Games start every 2 minutes, or whenever 10 people joined.
40s rounds. No move. ADW, ACW, AIW, ARW or AI gen. The bot sends guesses in all rounds to end the rounds once everyone guessed. Are you strong enough to beat the bot?
No Elo-based matchmaking, no check-in process, just click the "Get the link" button in the No Access channel to join next game (you still need to be registered, type
!register
if you are not).Unlike other modes, you can play several Live Challenges at the same time! You can join the next game's lobby while in game. Can you play 3 games at the same time and win them all?
Live Challenges support !info and !info2 commands. Try them out in 📑ranked-commands after you've played a couple of games.
Have fun!

The pick and veto system has been extended to 🟩matchmaking-1v1 . The map choices are now the same in NM, NMPZ and team duels: with no pick or veto, the challenges are played on a random choice between ADW, ACW, AI gen, ARW or AIW, and picks can be any of these 5 maps plus ABW, AI Populated World, Regionguessing and No Repeat ADW.
Reminder for our new players: You can use the /xp
command to spend your points on rewards. These rewards include - veto a map to remove this map from the pool of possible choices for your next game. Specialized command: !reward veto [map name] [how many times]
- pick a map to play on it in your next game (if your opponent also picked a map, you have a 50% chance of your pick getting saved for next time instead. If your opponent vetoed your pick, your pick also gets saved for next time). Specialized command: !reward pick [map name] [how many times]

The merge is now effective. The new matchmaking channel for challenges is 🟩matchmaking-1v1 , go there for both NM and NMPZ games. By default, you cannot get NMPZ games. If you accept or want NMPZ games, you are welcome to save a preference using the /pref command.
Another change to mention: from now on, rounds in NMPZ games are 30 seconds instead of 10.
Just type /pref, then hit Enter and you will get this menu where you can change your default preference to what fits you regarding NMPZ.

Introducing the rewards menu:
Use the /xp
command in any channel to see your current XP balance and currently pending rewards. You will also be able to easily redeem map picks, vetoes and StreakBot rewards using the dropdown menus at the bottom!
P.S. Do not worry, you can still use the !reward
command if you prefer.

Poll time:
We want to get your opinions before risking a big change in Ranked modes.
The idea is to merge NM and NMPZ 1v1s into a single mode (while 2v2 remains a separate game mode, only NM). The reason behind this is that NMPZ is dead, which is a shame because there are people who would gladly play NMPZ, but they are annoyed by the long queue time there so they just queue in NM, making NMPZ even more dead.
What this merge would change:
For everyone:
Unified matchmaking channel for the two 1v1 modes.
Unified ELO and rankings.
For people who don't want to play NMPZ games:
All your games will still be NM. Don't worry about that.
Queue times remain identical, if not shorter because of occasional NMPZ-tolerant players who will come to the unified matchmaking.
For people who are fine with NMPZ from time to time:
You may get NMPZ match ups (when other people who also declared being fine with NMPZ are also in the unified matchmaking).
Joining the unified queue basically means you're queuing for both NM and NMPZ. The matchmaking finds you an opponent based on Elo, and checks if that opponent declared being fine with NMPZ. If not (expect this to be the majority of cases, except maybe at high Elo), the game will be NM. If yes, 50% chance to make the game NMPZ.
Choice to accept NMPZ games or not:
By default nobody is assumed to accept NMPZ. If you don't want to get NMPZ games, you have nothing to do, you won't get any such games. If you agree to get NMPZ games, you will have to explicitly do a dedicated command to express that agreement. This will be stored as a preference, and you can opt out at any moment by changing your preference with another dedicated command.
Poll
Do you agree with the idea of merging the 1v1 game modes as explained above?
Yes for yes. No for no.
You can ask questions and express your arguments here.

Following feedback, we are restricting map picks to only vetted world maps. If you'd like to add a map to the list of possible picks, feel free to write your suggestion in 💬ranked-discussion.
If you would like Elo refunds for the couple of AI gen Mongolia games that happened in the last hour, feel free to ask as well.
P.S. Yes if you pick Skewed, the game will me NMPZ.

Rewards
It is a work in progress and we will add more very soon. I will edit the message to keep you updated. Here is what we have for now:
Veto a map. When you have enough Ranked Points (100), you can type things like
!reward veto ADW 3
to veto ADW for the next 3 team duels. Type that either in DMs to the registration bot, or in 📑ranked-commands if you want to let everyone know about your uncontrolled hate for a given map.Pick a map. If you wanted to play a team duel in A Skewed World or another map (needs to have 10K+ locs, polygonal maps not accepted), now you can! For 600 points, type something like
!reward pick Regionguessing
Streaks. Choose the map you want to play streaks on (see 📄changelog).
What if I veto your pick?
The veto wins but your pick gets saved for next game.
What if 2 people pick something?
Random choice, loser picks get saved for next game.
What if I picked or vetoed something but the team duel didn't start because someone did not check in?
Stay in the matchmaking, and your reward gets saved for next game!
In the future? Choose your flag next to your name on Discord, customize the display of your name on the leaderboard, get access to an exclusive channel, roles, entry to weekly tournaments...

Hello everyone!
We are excited to announce our next big project: The Plonk It Guide to GeoGuessr. The Guide was created to help players of almost all skill levels improve in the game. We have already added 10 countries to show how it will look like. Note that the focus right now is on the first and second section, as there are almost unlimited things that can be added to the third section.
Go to https://www.plonkit.net/guide from where all the published countries can be accessed via the map or the continent section at the bottom.
At the moment we have only a few players that are willing to help with this project, and we are planning to release at least one country per week. If you like the project and would like to contribute, whether it's finding locations, editing pictures, writing texts or just giving general feedback, fill out the relevant form below. Thank you for your help and have fun exploring the guide!
