Vanuatu

 Step 1 – Identifying Vanuatu

Vanuatu is an island nation located in the Pacific Ocean, northeast of Brisbane between the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Fiji.

All coverage in Vanuatu was taken with a Generation 3 trekker.

The coverage was taken on a volcanic island, and as such you will often see dark volcanic soil.

Vanuatu is a tropical island chain, with a significant part of the coverage being taken in a dense tropical forest.

 Step 2 – Regional clues

Although Vanuatu consists of 13 primary islands, only Ambrym Island has coverage. Look for the ‘Port Vato’ label on the map, north of Port Vila, to find the island.

This unique volcano trekker can be found in the middle of the island.

A distinct plateau with dark brown soil and patchy grass is seen east of the volcano.

Tropical plants and many ferns can be seen in this jungle further to the east. A man with a red cap is also seen with the trekker.

A beach with black sand can be seen on the east side of the island.

This dirt road with tire tracks and slightly purple soil can be seen east of the beach.

Endu Pahakol, the only village with coverage on Ambrym Island, can be recognized by the small thatched huts and dark soil.
